Men’s Health
When I first opened my clinic, I thought that it was likely that few of my patients would be men because women tend
to seek help from health care professionals more often than men do. Contrary to my initial hypothesis, 40% of my
patients are men. Most of them came to see me initially because their wives or girlfriends asked them to, but when
they discovered that Japanese-style acupuncture does not hurt and would help them to relax their minds and bodies
for more than one hour, they continue to see me on a regular basis. I truly enjoy treating both male and female
patients.
Men tend to exhibit more issues that results from excess than women do because men belong to "Yang" (brightness)
and women belong to "Yin" (shadow). Once I clear the excess through acupuncture, Tuina massage, cupping, and
other modalities in order to balance the meridians, the Qi (energy) and blood and fluids in the meridian start to flow
smoothly again. Just as it is for women patients, my job with men is to clear the traffic jam in the channel (meridian)
that is causing negative effects in the body. How do I do that? Through all of the modalities listed above, as well as
sensitivity in my fingertips, which is something based in my blood, culture, schooling, and the masters I have studied
with.
